Reliable electrical energy supplies are essential to a growing and prosperous community.  Southwestern Connecticut is approaching the point where existing electrical energy resources - transmission and generation - will need upgrading if future demand growth and reliability requirements are to be met.

The Connecticut Siting Council will be considering, sequentially, several applications from Northeast Utilities (NU) that, combined, are supposed to address the power needs of Connecticut.  NU's plans are sized far in excess of any reasonable demand forecast for the region.  Also, NU has not submitted any "environmental impact studies."

We are pleased to join in coalition with other citizens, elected officials, legislators and groups to urge that Northeast Utilities put forth a complete plan, not piecemeal, that offers a solution scaled to a reasonable assessment of area electric power needs and that will seek to minimize any environmental impact.
