Minute Men Cleaners, a full service dry-cleaning business, is scheduled
to open soon in the Weston Shopping Center.
It will be located in a space next to the Weston Hardware Store.
Josh Tolk, property manager for the center, said the anticipated
opening date is March 1, 2011.
The center has been without a dry cleaner since 2006, when the Weston
Valet business closed its doors.
Peter’s Market took over the space formerly occupied by Weston Valet
for an expansion. Minute Men will be taking over a portion of the space
currently occupied by the hardware store.
Minute Men is a family-owned business run by brothers Ken and Jon
Shepard. It has operations in Westport, Trumbull, Greenwich and the
Huntington section of Shelton.
Services offered in Weston will include dry cleaning, shirt laundering,
and tailoring, Mr. Tolk said. All dry cleaning and laundering will be
done off premises, while the tailor will be available on site, Mr. Tolk
said.

Weston's Lunch Box plans
expansion

The Lunch Box, the Weston eatery that is celebrating its 30th
anniversary this year, is about to get a new look.
It is expanding into 640 square feet of space in the Weston Shopping
Center that was formerly occupied by the Weston Pharmacy. (The
remainder of that space will be occupied by Lang’s Pharmacy of Weston.)
The expansion about doubles the size of the Lunch Box’s dining area,
said owner Dante Zacavish. “My wife, Barbie, and I are very excited
about this opportunity,” he said.
But while the size of the dining area will double, the number of seats
will not increase. “We are going to keep the same number of seats, but
we are going to add larger tables so there is more room for plates,
making it a little more comfortable for our customers,” Mr. Zacavish
said.
The larger tables will also better accommodate laptop computers, which
have been welcomed into the restaurant since February, when The Lunch
Box went Wi-Fi, offering free wireless Internet service to its
customers.
The expanded dining area is not the only change on the horizon. Mr.
Zacavish is also going to do other remodeling. He said he plans to add
new floors and ceilings to the dining and kitchen areas to give the
place an “up-to-date country look.”
He is also going to upgrade the bathroom to make it handicapped
accessible. “We are really going to dress the place up,” he said.
There will also be changes to The Lunch Box menu when the expansion is
completed. “We will be adding ice cream, which we will hand scoop, and
serve cones, sundaes, and ice cream sodas,” Mr. Zacavish said.
He’ll also start serving specials. “We’ll have a pizza of the day and
soup and salad with a sandwich specials,” he said. The restaurant has
recently started serving lattes, espresso and cappuccino, which, he
said, is going over well with customers.
Mr. Zacavish cannot say how long it will take for the expansion to be
completed, because the project still needs local permits and approvals,
but he hopes it will be ready by Thanksgiving, in the same time frame
that Lang’s Pharmacy would like to open. “We are going to be patient
and do our due diligence to get this project moving,” he said.
Mr. Zacavish credits Jim Magee, the owner of Peter’s Weston Market, for
the inspiration to renovate the restaurant. “Seeing the great job Jimmy
did with his space really inspired me to update The Lunch Box,” he
said.
