Norwalk City Hall was the scene of this annual event. Newspapers
showed up to report; a crowd was on hand to hear SWRPA's goals
for 2010 brought into focus by Chair. Paul Settelmeyer of Greenwich (at
the podium, above)! Thanks once again to Norwalk's Mayor Dick
Moccia for that city's hospitality and use of their fine facilities!

SWRPA was honored to have the U.S. Congressman from the 4th District,
Hon. Jim Himes in attendance, and he spoke about prospects for help
from Washington, D.C. in funding some unmet needs the region
has...those needs being summarized by M.P.O. Chair. Hon. Jeb Walker,
First Selectman of New Canaan.

Top: Representative
Bruce Morris(140) and Representative Peggy Reeves
(143) spoke eloquently, as did Representaive Carlo Leone (148), of
balancing the needs of cities and State...Middle: First
Selectman Peter Tesei of Greenwich; State Senator Scott
Franz(S-36), Representative Fred Camillo (151); Lower: Representative Livvy
Floren (149), Representative Lile Gibbons (150), Representative Terrie
Wood (141);
Greenwich was well represented and
spoke for the Fairfield County point of view about how Hartford takes
one third of its revenues from us and returns few services. Newly
elected representatives expressed dismay at the partisanship in
evidence in Hartford and the disdain of the Majority for the opinions
of the Minority. In turn, Norwalk representatives exchanged
remarks on the differences between the Democratic and Republican views
of how to deal with the economic situation and shortfall of revenue
(and requirement to balance the CT budget).

Across the Community Room from the Congressman were: State
Senator Toni Boucher (S-26), Representative John Hetherington (125),
First Selectman Bill Brennan of Wilton and Representative Larry Cafero
(142).
The Congressman requested more detail about what the South Western
Region would like him to do for us in Washington ... and the
Legislators complied with their own wrap up!

SWRPA Chair. Settelmeyer promised the Congressman that he would get our
list of things we'd like him to work on for us in writing
immediately! (And a memo went out that very day.)
